Just wrapped up optimizing a heavy-duty Excel VBA macro that checks “committed by” info across multiple sheets using dictionary-based lookups, a cleaned source mapping, and smart exception handling.
✅ Requirements:
Loop through Sheet "Combination"
, row 2 to last. For each row:
-
Extract the name from Column C (e.g.,
"Committed by: John Doe"
) -
Skip if the name contains
GitHub
,lvgo
, orroot
-
Check if the source file in Column A exists in Column A of either:
-
"Telapp user list"
or -
"LVGO user list"
-
-
If found, and the extracted name exists in Column D of the match, and Column E = "Admin", then:
→ Write"YES"
in Column D of"Combination"

This small but powerful enhancement helped me speed up a client workflow dramatically, improving both reliability and transparency during runtime.

Here are 5 key advantages of using VBA automation for workflows:
Time Savings VBA can automate repetitive and time-consuming tasks (like formatting, data entry, or reporting), allowing teams to focus on higher-value activities instead of manual drudgery.
Error Reduction Manual work often leads to inconsistencies and errors. VBA ensures accuracy by executing tasks using pre-defined rules, minimizing the risk of human error.
Process Standardization VBA helps enforce a consistent workflow across teams by applying the same logic and structure every time the macro runs — ensuring uniform results and reporting.
Cost Efficiency By reducing manual workload, VBA eliminates the need for additional software or staff hours. It leverages the Excel platform already in use — making it a low-cost, high-impact solution.
Customizable & ScalableVBA can be tailored precisely to your business rules, user interfaces, and data structures. As your processes evolve, the code can be scaled and enhanced without starting from scratch.
Whether it’s checking records across sheets or dynamically filtering user data, structuring your macros right makes a world of difference.
If you’re relying on Excel for daily operations and want to automate or refine your workflow, I’d love to collaborate.
